New Special Collections:


William Kennedy Papers

University Libraries are delighted to announce the recent acquisition of the manuscript collection of Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist and UA Professor William Kennedy. Housed in the M.E. Grenander Department of Special Collections and Archives, the Kennedy collection comprises approximately 100 linear feet of correspondence, drafts, typescripts, worksheets, manuscripts, autograph notes, galleys and page proofs, photographs, and printed ephemera.

U.S. Representative Gerald Solomon

The papers of U.S. Representative Gerald Solomon were also recently acquired. The Solomon Papers are rich in summary material documenting Republican Gerald Solomon's twenty-year career as a U.S. Congressman. Mr. Solomon represented the 22nd Congressional District of New York from 1978-1998. There are 53 boxes of materials which contain detailed summary information pertaining to his legislative activities, including his voting activity, justification for his votes, bills and resolutions he introduced and co-sponsored.


WAMC Tapes

The transfer of the WAMC Program Archive to the University's Special Collections took place in the Summer 2002. The WAMC Archive contains over 500 open reel tapes and more than 5,000 cassette tapes of locally produced radio programs including The Best of Our Knowledge, 51%, Capitol Connection, The Environment Show, The Health Show, Legislative Gazette, The Law Show, Media Project, Vox Pop, and the recording of regional events. The programs date from the late 1970s up until the late 1990s.
