Rene and I chose the Libraries as the beneficiary for our contributions for many reasons. I'm a 1973 graduate, with a double major in mathematics and biology. After medical school, I did not feel any allegiance to any particular school. Rene is a 1975 graduate of the School of Nursing; the School was abolished several years after her class graduated.
When we began contributing to UAlbany, the Library made good sense to us both as the recipient. We have always felt that the Libraries, the staff, the collections of books, periodicals, and non-print materials are the heart of any university. Widespread use of the Internet makes basic research materials even more central to students. Now, we are major contributors to Albany's Libraries, and it still makes good sense!
