Library Exhibits

Exhibits contribute positively to the University Libraries' environment, highlight collection strengths, bring visibility to resources and services and enrich the academic life of the University. The Libraries make exhibit cases available for display of materials that support University curricula and programs. Of special interest to the Libraries are exhibits that promote the Libraries' collections and services.

In the University Library, the Exhibits Committee is responsible for mounting exhibits. The Committee develops an annual plan and schedule of exhibits, reviews exhibit proposals and determines their merit, mounts exhibits and assists exhibitors to mount exhibits. The current Co-Chairs of the Exhibits Committee are: Deborah LaFond, Social Sciences Bibliographer (dlafond@uamail.albany.edu), and Sydney Allen, Acquisitons Professional (skallen@uamail.albany.edu).

To propose an exhibit for consideration, obtain a proposal form from the Office of the Director of Libraries, LI 108, 442-3568. The form should be submitted to the Dean & Director of Libraries (University Library), or to the Head of the Dewey or Science Libraries at least three months in advance of the proposed exhibit date. In the Dewey Graduate Library (downtown campus), exhibit decisions are made by the Head of the Dewey Library, Barbara Via. In the Science Library and the Barnes & Noble Reading Room exhibits exhibit decisions are made by the Head of the Science Library, Gregg Sapp. In the M. E. Grenander Department of Special Collections & Archives exhibits are mounted only by the staff of the Department, both within the department and in the New Library lobby.
