We are pleased to continue our support of the University Libraries, the keystone
of any university. Our gift endowment to be used for materials in the Fine Arts and
Performing Arts reflects our especial interest in this area. Paul taught non-Western
history for a number of years. I know the essential dimension that art, music, and
drama provides in enabling students to better understand other cultures. Modern
technology can now provide greatly improved materials for the classroom and individual
study.
The problem is that costs for these materials to support the various disciplines are incredibly expensive. No longer can the University depend on public tax dollars to fully support the substantial costs of maintaining a first class research library.
Thus we are pleased that we are able to support this endowment with a charitable gift annuity. We look forward to our membership in the Library Development Committee to encourage others to assist in meeting the $250,000 goal for The Endowment for Materials in Fine and Performing Arts.
