In general there is no cost to the user for Interlibrary Loan orders. The service is subsidized by the University Libraries. There are two exceptions:
- If the only way to fill a request is to purchase a microfilm or a photocopy of an out-of-print work, the user will be contacted, and if he/she wants to continue with the order, the purchase price will be billed to the user.
- Please note our updated procedure concerning U.S. dissertations, effective summer 2005: We still request U.S. dissertations at no charge to you. If the library will not lend the dissertation, connect to Digital Dissertations to consider your options for direct purchase. Titles published since 1997 also have 24 preview pages available through this database.
