Institute I: The Manager

During three intensive days, participants in this basic Association of Research Libraries core-learning event explore essential aspects of effective leadership and management. Aimed at helping supervisors, team leaders, and middle managers within libraries, media centers, or information technology units, this Institute helps individuals hone the skills needed in new environments where decision-making is distributed throughout the organization and coaching and influencing are expected functions of the manager or team leader.

The basic ARL Library Management Skills Institute I: The Manager will take place August 11, 12 and 13 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in the Standish Room on the third floor of the Science Library.  Registration is $ 650.00 for employees of ARL and SUNY Libraries, $ 750.00 for employees of non-ARL Libraries and includes a reception on August 11, lunch and afternoon refreshments each day. Please register by June 27, 2008 to reserve a seat. A minimum of 30 registrants is necessary for this Institute to proceed.
