ENDOWED LIBRARY PRESERVATION FUNDS

These funds provide opportunities to make our facilities open and responsive to the people who use them.

Preservation of the Hawley Building Windows and
Murals Fund

Established in 1995 by the University Libraries and the Friends of the Libraries to support the maintenance and preservation of the historic stained glass windows and WPA-era canvas murals of the Hawley building, which now houses the Dewey Graduate Library for Public Affairs and Policy, this fund is used for repairs and special maintenance necessary to preserve these special features. The Hawley Building is one of the three original buildings of the New York State Normal College, the predecessor institution of the University at Albany. The Library is used mainly by people who do their work in and through programs at Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, one of the nation's premier programs.

Mary Elizabeth Cobb Library Conference Room Fund
Established by Mrs. Miriam Snow Mathes '26 to honor the memory of Mary Elizabeth Cobb, College Librarian from 1916 to 1956, this fund is used to enhance and refurbish the Mary Elizabeth Cobb Conference Room in the University Library. The University Libraries and the Friends of the Libraries use the room for meetings and programs that serve students, faculty, and members of the greater community.
