IM and SMS Policy

  • Some cellular phone service plans may impose a charge on SMS messages.
  • Instant Messaging (IM) and Text Message (SMS) service is intended primarily for University at Albany students, faculty, and staff but questions from other users will be handled as time permits.
  • IM and SMS questions are taken in a first-come-first-served order. During busy times it may take longer to answer your IM/SMS.
  • University Libraries are committed to privacy protection. Information collected via IM/SMS Reference service will not be shared with any third parties.
