What are the circulation policies for Interlibrary Loan materials?

Loan Period/ Renewals

The loan period for materials lent by other libraries varies but is generally around four weeks. A paper band attached to the book indicates the due date. Renewals may be made by connecting to ILLiad and choosing View/Renew checked out items. Overdue materials cannot be renewed. Interlibrary loan books are subject to recall by the lending library at any time, and if you are notified of a recall a new due date is then assigned to the item.

Returns

Please make your interlibrary loan reading a high priority. Your prompt return of borrowed materials is appreciated. Pick up and return all borrowed material to the circulation desk at the University Library, the Dewey Library, or the Science Library. Do not use external book drops for interlibrary loan items.

Replacement fees will be charged to the borrower for grossly overdue, lost, or damaged items which have reached the billing stage. A processing charge of $10.00 per item is then charged, even when materials are returned. Failure to pay the fees will result in the loss of interlibrary loan borrowing privileges.
