Feeding America: The Historic American Cookbook Project

From the Michigan State University Library and the MSU Museum, this is an online searchable collection of "some of the most influential and important cookbooks from the late 18th to early 20th century." Users can view digital images of the pages of each cookbook. Includes full-text transcriptions.

Benders' Dictionary of Nutrition and Food TechnologyAccessible to University at Albany users only

Provides definitions of over 5,000 terms in nutrition and food technology. In addition, there is nutrient composition for 287 foods. For University at Albany affiliated users only.

This site is a service of the National Agriculture Library, U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. Users can calculate their own Food Pyramid based on age, gender, and level of physical activity; view the 2005 Dietary Guidelines; look up calories or nutrients in a food; learn about Federal Nutrition Assistance programs; find information on food safety; read nutrition news; and more. Browsable by subject or by audience.

Nutrient Data Laboratory

The Nutrient Data Laboratory (NDL) of the Agricultural Research Service of the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture has the responsibility to develop USDA's National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference, the foundation of most food and nutrition databases in the US, used in food policy, research and nutrition monitoring. Users can search this site for values in the USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference, Release 18.
