| Description: | A picture of Vincent O’Leary (viewer's far left), Acting President from 1977–1978 and President from 1978–July 31, 1990, presenting the Paul C. Lemon Award to Barry R. Noon (Ph.D, 1979) with an unidentified woman, and John Mackiewicz, a Professor in the Department of Biology. Noon is currently a Professor in the Department of Fishery and Wildlife Biology at Colorado State University and was Chief Scientist of the National Biological Service, Washington, D.C., during the Clinton Administration. The Paul C. Lemon Ecology Award is presented "for a thesis that is an outstanding contribution to our understanding of the ecological and environmental problems, inter-relationships and challenges in the natural world." The award was first presented in 1973 after being endowed by Lemon, a former chair of the Department of Biological Sciences, and is given every two years. During O’Leary’s administrations, the institution was named State University of New York at Albany from August 1962–fall 1986 and the University at Albany, SUNY starting in the fall of 1986 and continuing. |
