Photographs and Digital Collections

University at Albany Libraries' Digital Collections Database
The Department's holdings include photographic images in many individual archival and manuscript collections. A portion of the Department's images are available for viewing online in the University at Albany Libraries' Digital Collections Database. The database currently provides online access to over 9,000 items with more entries added on an ongoing basis. The majority of these images document the University at Albany's Uptown Campus in the 1970s and 1980s as well as students from the classes of 1847 through 1980. Over 4,000 images from the records of United University Professions are currently being made available online. The database also provides full-text access to the Annual Reports of the New York State Normal School Executive Committee for the years 1844-1870. Users may wish to consult the subject terms list from the Search page before beginning a search.

Grenander Department on Flickr
The Department has created an account at Flickr for sharing images from recent Grenander Department and University Libraries events and programs. All images from the Department's collections that are available in digital form will continue to be available only in the University at Albany Libraries' Digital Collections database, so if you are looking for images from your commencement in 1968 use the Digital Collections database not the Flickr page.

Exhibits
Listed here are exhibits produced or supported by the M.E. Grenander Department of Special Collections and Archives, the University at Albany community, as well as exhibits that document the history of New York State.

Searching

Search (keyword only) Collection Abstracts and Finding Aids
It is possible to keyword search the online abstracts and finding aids for the Department's manuscript and archival collections. Please note that keyword searching is most useful for finding personal names and/or organizations. Since not all finding aids are availalbe online and because finding aids do not generally describe collections at the item level, it may be useful to consult the M. E. Grenander Department of Special Collections and Archives Reference staff for assistance.

Minerva
The University Libraries' online public-access catalog containing bibliographic records for cataloged materials, both manuscripts and published items. Note: not all Archives of Public Affairs and Policy, German and Jewish Intellectual Émigré, Business, Literary, and Miscellany Manuscript, and University Archives collections have been cataloged in Minerva at the present, so it may be useful to consult the M. E. Grenander Department of Special Collections and Archives Reference staff for assistance.
