The science taught at the State Normal School, according to one historian, was the same as that taught in the first two years in college. The photo at left of Principal David Cochran is from a Class of 1861 autograph book. Autograph books were the yearbooks of the 19th Century. Below is Laura Crum's, class of 1858, notes on Principal Cochran's lecture on meteorology. Cochran was principal of the State Normal School from February 25, 1856 through December 1864. |
