CRAAB and Advocacy Work
In 1993, Dr. Brown was diagnosed with breast cancer. Rather than let the disease take over her lifestyle, Dr. Brown co-founded the Capital Region Action Against BreastCancer! (CRAAB!) organization in 1997. One of her frequent collaborators was Bonnie Spanier, Associate Professor Emerita, University at Albany. Dr. Brown tirelessly advocated for breast cancer awareness at both the community and governmental level until her death in 2004.
