REGISTERING FOR SPECIAL SERVICES
University students, faculty, and staff may register for the Libraries' special services to persons with disabilities. Registration forms are available online at http://library.albany.edu/spwd/request.html or by request from . Students wishing to register for special services must first register with the Office for Disabled Student Services, located in CC 137.
ARCHITECTURAL ACCESSIBILITY
The University Library and its entrance doors, basment rest rooms, and othe rpublic spaces have been modified to improve accessibility. There is elevator access to all public areas.
The Science Library, constructed after the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act, is our most accessible library.
The Dewey Library,constructed in the early 1900s, has modified its entrances to facilitate access. Enter from the first floor of adjacent Draper Hall. Automatic doors and a wheelchair elevator increase accessibility. All services are available on the first floor of the Library; retrieval services are available to provide access to collections stored on the lower level.

The guide describes services for copying, paging and retrieval, home and office delivery, as well as orientations and reference assistance.
ADAPTIVE EQUIPMENT
The University Library is equipped with a voice output scanner, talking book players, tape recorders, TTY telephone, and a Braille printer. A PC with adaptive software is available; it will produce Braille printouts.
ORIENTATION SERVICES
The Libraries offer individual orientations upon request. Orientations will be tailored to individual concerns. Library services will be reviewed, and a guided tour of the library building is optional.
