  A large, multi-volume work, particularly useful for basic information in the fields of library and information science. The series is arranged in a standard alphabetical sequence of topics. Although much of the material in the original volumes is seriously dated, the set, until recently, has been continually updated by annual supplemental volumes.

  Books owned by the University Libraries can be accessed through the Minerva online catalog from within the libraries or remotely via the Libraries' homepage. The Minerva online catalog is searchable by authors, titles, subjects, keywords, and other entry points. For books and periodicals housed in the Dewey Library, the location in Minerva will say DEWEY. For materials in the University Library (Main Campus), the location is ULIB. For books and periodicals in the Science Library, the location is SCIENCE. The Minerva catalog indicates if a book is out on loan and the due date. If a book you need is on loan, you may fill out a recall form under Request Forms on the University Libraries' home page so that the book will be recalled and held for you.
• CaDiLac
  You may search for books that are not owned by the University Libraries by using CaDiLac, the Capital District Library Council Union Catalog on the Web. This system has holdings for area libraries including academic, public, school and special libraries. Books or articles not owned by the University Libraries can be requested through Interlibrary loan.
• WorldCat
  The WorldCat database provides access to books and other materials in libraries worldwide. The Library Catalogs page of the University Libraries' web site also offers links to many other library catalogs, such as the Library of Congess, U.S. Presidential libraries, the Smithsonian, and law and medical libraries.
