Children's and School Media Collections

Carol Hurst's Children Literature Site

This site includes reviews of children's literature, information on authors and illustrators, and curriculum/literature connections.

Children's Historical Literature Disseminated throughout Europe

The CHILDE project presents over 1,000 images from children's books from six collections in England, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Germany. Most of the books were published before 1890. Search for images by author, title, illustrator, or free text. There are a number of illustrations by Randolph Caldecott, the namesake of the Caldecott Medal, an American Library Association award, established in 1938, for best children's picture book of the year.

This survey of 3,300 international information consumers indicates that people do not think of libraries when they want to access electronic information.

OCLC: College Students Perceptions of Libraries and Information Resources

This 2005 report is a companion to the Perceptions of Libraries and Information Resources OCLC report . International undergraduate and graduate students were surveyed about their information seeking behavior and were found to have positive ideas about libraries. However, younger respondents were less positive than older respondents.
