Crystallography and Crystallographic Information

Based on the holdings of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Libraries, this site is a guide to essential resources for crystallography. It contains a lists of organizations, publications (directories, handbooks, manuals, major conference proceedings, indexing and abstracting services, and journals), databases, Internet resources, historical resources, and introductory texts. The University at Albany Libraries own several of the items listed; please consult the Minerva online catalog.

Electrochemical Science and Technology Information Resource

Materials Science Resources

This Web site lists links to resources in all areas of materials science. It covers companies, organizations and societies, academic programs, newsgroups and listserves, employment sites, online courses, and databases.

MEMS Clearinghouse

This site is a repository of information on micro-electro-mechanical systems. It was established to foster communication and the rapid sharing of information within the MEMS community, and contains news, employment listings, events, a materials database, discussion groups, and listings of Internet resources, suppliers, and companies.

NanoScout.

NanoScout is a portal to nanotechnology information on the Web. It provides access to news, companies, books, journals, software, databases, patents, organizations, jobs, gateways and portals, research groups, and funding.

Nanowerk is a portal to numerous resources for nanoscience and nanotechnology. It includes a nanomaterials database, a suppliers database, news feeds, reports, videos, an introduction to nanotechnology, an events calendar, blogs, and a career center.

OpticsNotes

OpticsNotes is a gateway to resources, references, and tutorials on optics and photonics. Users can browse through information on optics fundamentals, design, components, manufacture, applications, references, and industry, or search the site.

Plasma Science and Technology

This is a World Wide Web Virtual Library site containing access to plasma information resources such as books, conferences, professional societies, funding agencies, journals, and educational materials.

The Semiconductor Subway

The Semiconductor Subwary is a portal to Web resources on semiconductors. It furnishes access to information on fabrication, computer-aided design, VLSI circuits, and computer integrated manufacturing.

Superconductors

Although the main focus of this site is to introduce beginners and non-technical people to the world of superconductors, it also includes links to other superconductor sites including pictures and animations, tutorials, research groups, manufacturers, and upcoming conferences.

The IEEE is a professional association of more than 377,000 members in 150 countries. Institute of Nanotechnology

This is a collaboration between the Institute of Physics and the International Society for Optical Engineering. SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering

Crystallography Tutorial

This Web site from UCLA contains software tutorials to help researchers and students determine their crystal structures.

EE 527 Process Tutorials

The 13 tutorials provide an overview of microfabrication and some semiconductor background, and history. Other topics are photolithography, photoresists, vacuum systems, and clean room design and operation.

Exploring the Nanoworld

Interactive Nano-Visualization in Science and Engineering Education (IN-VSEE)

IN-VSEE is a consortial effort to offer educational resources on the operation of advanced microscopes, nano-fabrication tools, and surface characterization methods. It includes instructional modules along with photographs, schematics, animations, and micrographs.

International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors (ITRS)

ITRS was developed through the cooperation of several semiconductor/electronics associations. Its objective is to outline the goals and future advancements for the worldwide semiconductor industry.

Lecture Notes on Surfaces and Thin Films

Hosted by Arizona State University, these are the lecture notes of John Venables that were used in the development of the graduate textbook, Introduction to Surface and Thin Film Processes, Cambridge University Press, 2000.

NanoHub: Online Simulation and More

nanoHub was developed to advance the application computational science techniques to nanoscience and nanotechnology by providing a suite of simulation tools. Users can operate the simulation tools using standard Web browsers. Use of the tools is free, but registration is required. There are also links to addition resources.

WikiPatents is a free U.S. patent database beginning with patent 3,930,271, and running through the most recent patents and patent applications. It includes a basic patent number search as well as an advanced search mode. In addition to providing both HTML and PDF versions of patents, WikiPatents features a wiki-like interface to review, rate, and discuss patents. The Constants and Equations Page

This Web site lists over 600 scientific constants and 425 equations. Also included are conversion factors, SI units, symbols, and a Java program that names compounds from structures that are drawn.

Elemental Data Index

From NIST, the Elemental Data Index provide data and information about each element including atomic weight, ground state configuration, atomic spectra, ionization energy, X-ray and gamma-ray data, radiation dosimetry data, nuclear physics data, and condensed matter physics data.

Fundamental Physical Constants

Fundamental Physical Constants provides the values of the basic constants and conversion factors of physics and chemistry.

Index to Physical, Chemical and Other Property Data

This site is an index to resources that contain chemical, physical, thermodynamic, mechanical, toxicological, and safety data. Its heart is an alphabetical listing of properties linked to resources that contain data on that property. Although this site is based on resources in the Arizona State University Libraries, many of the same resources are available to UAlbany users.

International Critical Tables of Numerical Data, Physics, Chemistry and TechnologyAccessible to University at Albany users only

ICT contains the best (critical) data derived from the literature up to 1924. It includes data on physical, thermodynamic, mechanical, and other important properties for chemistry, physics, and engineering. The data is presented as text, equations, tables, graphs, and charts. Knovel Critical Tables (kCT) are based on the International Critical Tables of Numeric Data, Physics, Chemistry, and Technology, and include up-to-date, evaluated data on over 13,000 compounds. The tables contain data on organic and inorganic compounds, and pure substances. New tables will be added to kCT on a regular basis. kCT is fully searchable.

MatWeb: The Online Materials Information Resource

MatWeb provides access to a database of properties of over 28,000 materials. Free registration is required to access premium features.

NIST Physical Reference Data

NIST Physical Reference Data provides access to critically evaluated physical constants, atomic spectroscopic data, molecular spectroscopic data, ionization data, X-ray and gamma-ray data, radiation dosimetry data, nuclear physics data, condensed matter physics data, and other NIST data.

NIST/SEMATECH e-Handbook of Statistical Methods

Originally designed for professionals in the semiconductor industry, this handbook is a massive resource for applied statistics methods and probability.

The PGM Database

The PGM Database (Platinum Group Metals) contains published data on the physical properties and characteristics of platinum group metals and their alloys. There is information on over 400 alloys. It is fully searchable and browsable.

Physical & Chemical Properties Data

This Web site, developed at the University of Wisconsin Chemistry Library, is a subject index to numerous physical and chemical property resources, both in print and online. Although it is an index to resources at the University of Wisconsin, the University at Albany has many of the books and online resources that are cited. You will need to check the UAlbany's Minerva catalog to see if is available.

The Smithsonian Physical Tables cover a wide range of common physical and chemical data. It includes general physical constants and units of measurement as well as tables on photometry, mechanical properties, building materials, density, acoustics, diffusion, geomagnetism, radiation, abundance of substances, colloids, electron emission, fission, and gravitation. The 901 tables are fully searchable and the index is hyperlinked to the data.

Tables Relocated or Removed from CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics, 71st through 79th Editions

Tables that appeared in the 71st-79th editions of the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics but have been removed, retitled, or rearranged in the 83rd Edition (2002-2003) are listed on the page.

Thermo Chemical Properties Estimations

After the structure is entered, this program will estimate the property. It contains heats of formation, transition, fusion, vaporization, and reaction. It is fully searchable and the index is hyperlinked to the data.

ThermoDex

ThermoDex is a searchable database containing records for over 90 printed handbooks and Web-based compilations of thermodynamic and thermophysical data for chemical compounds.
