GradSchool Shopper allows prospective graduate students to search for programs by school, location, subject, and degree type. There are also supplementary resources and advice.

College Physics for Students of Biology and Chemistry

A complete physics text with problems covering a full year of noncalculus, undergraduate physics; it requires a working knowledge of algebra.

Cramster

Cramster is a study community comprised of students and teachers helping each other to solve problems in mathematically-based subjects like chemistry, physics, and computer science; mathematics courses such as calculus and statistics are also covered. Cramster creates and provides access to study materials (textbook solutions, topic notes, sample problems, and practice tests) along with materials developed by community members. The Cramster Answer Board, which is moderated by subject experts, furnishes community members with an opportunity to ask and answer questions. Basic membership is free, but registration is required. Developed at Florida State University, this set of tutorials covers microscopy and its related principles. It starts with the basics, but covers several advanced topics.

The Particle Adventure

An interactive tour of the inner workings of the atom; introduces the theory of fundamental particles & forces, explores the experimental evidence & the reasons physicists want to go beyond this theory, provides information on particle decay and a brief history section.

Perspectives on Plasmas

An educational resource containing both basic and advanced information on plasmas. It includes background information, applications, Internet resources, exhibition, and photo gallery.

Physics 24/7

Physics 24/7 contains resources to help students learn physics. It provides access to a glossary that defines and explains important terms; a tutorial that teaches physics concepts by explaining every day events or phenomena; study skill tips; and a collection of self-correcting physics quizzes. Most of the resources on this site are free, however, customized assistance from a physics tutor is fee-based.

Physics 2000

This site contains Java-based interactive modules that demonstrate concepts of modern physics including Bose-Einstein condensations, X-rays, computerized tomography, electromagnetic waves, quantum atoms, microwave ovens, lasers, television and laptop computer screens, and interference experiments.

The Physics of Baseball

Physics Simulations Library

From Mississippi State University (and mirrored elsewhere), this site provides access to Java and Shockwave simulations that were created in various locations around the world. Quantum Physics Made Relatively Simple

Using limited mathematics, this series of three lectures, given by Hans Bethe in 1999, focuses on the personal and historical perspectives of one of the principal architects of quantum theory.

Quantum Physics Online

This site is an index to resources that contain chemical, physical, thermodynamic, mechanical, toxicological, and safety data. Its heart is an alphabetical listing of properties linked to resources that contain data on that property. Although this site is based on resources in the Arizona State University Libraries, many of the same resources are available to UAlbany users.

International Critical Tables of Numerical Data, Physics, Chemistry and TechnologyAccessible to University at Albany users only

ICT contains the best (critical) data derived from the literature up to 1924. It includes data on physical, thermodynamic, mechanical, and other important properties for chemistry, physics, and engineering. The data is presented as text, equations, tables, graphs, and charts. ICT is fully searchable and the index is hyperlinked to the data.

Knovel Critical Tables (kCT) are based on the International Critical Tables of Numeric Data, Physics, Chemistry, and Technology, and include up-to-date, evaluated data on over 13,000 compounds. The tables contain data on organic and inorganic compounds, and pure substances. New tables will be added to kCT on a regular basis. kCT is fully searchable.

The NIST Data Gateway provides access to broad range of property and substance data as well as to databases producted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

NIST Physical Reference Data

NIST Physical Reference Data provides access to critically evaluated physical constants, atomic spectroscopic data, molecular spectroscopic data, ionization data, X-ray and gamma-ray data, radiation dosimetry data, nuclear physics data, condensed matter physics data, and other NIST data.

Periodic Table [and X-Ray Data]

For each element in the periodic table, x-ray properties like edge energies, edge jumps, and fluorescence yield are provided. If the energy value is added, x-ray cross-sections at that energy that include photoelectric, coherent, and incoherent data, are also provided.

The PGM Database

The PGM Database (Platinum Group Metals) contains published data on the physical properties and characteristics of platinum group metals and their alloys. There is information on over 400 alloys. It is fully searchable and browsable.

Physical & Chemical Properties Data

This Web site, developed at the University of Wisconsin Chemistry Library, is a subject index to numerous physical and chemical property resources, both in print and online. Although it is an index to resources at the University of Wisconsin, the University at Albany has many of the books and online resources that are cited. You will need to check the UAlbany's Minerva catalog to see if is available.

Smithsonian Physical TablesAccessible to University at Albany users only

The Smithsonian Physical Tables cover a wide range of common physical and chemical data. It includes general physical constants and units of measurement as well as tables on photometry, mechanical properties, building materials, density, acoustics, diffusion, geomagnetism, radiation, abundance of substances, colloids, electron emission, fission, and gravitation. The 901 tables are fully searchable and the index is hyperlinked to the data.

Tables that appeared in the 71st-79th editions of the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics but have been removed, retitled, or rearranged in the 83rd Edition (2002-2003) are listed on the page.

Thermochemistry of the Chemical Substances

Questions & Answers

Cramster

Cramster is a study community comprised of students and teachers helping each other to solve problems in mathematically-based subjects like chemistry, physics, and computer science; mathematics courses such as calculus and statistics are also covered. Cramster creates and provides access to study materials (textbook solutions, topic notes, sample problems, and practice tests) along with materials developed by community members. The Cramster Answer Board, which is moderated by subject experts, furnishes community members with an opportunity to ask and answer questions. Basic membership is free, but registration is required. Premium membership, with additional benefits, is available for a fee.
