Before you begin:
-
How would
you like to treat your topic--comprehensively or selectively?
-
How much
information do you need to gather?
-
Do you
need to use current information, older information or both?
During the overview stage:
- What are the major
issues, theories, authors, thinkers, events, and government actions
related to your topic.
- Develop a basic chronology
of your aspect of the topic.
Once you have a basic understanding
of the key issues, theories and thinkers associated with your topic, you will
be able to focus your research on one aspect of the topic.
Remember research
takes time! It is not hard but it always takes longer than you think
it should.
