Full periodical stacks, tight aisles and an overcrowded Periodicals Reading Room will change to stacks with wider aisles and less crowded shelving when the science and math journals move to the new building. Current issues of journals will be displayed in a new Current Periodicals Reading Room.

The new Current Periodicals Reading Room will house the current year issues of all journals housed in the University Library and provide ample seating for users in a quiet environment.

An increasing number of large classes receive instruction in electronic information sources in the Interactive Media Center, necessitating "doubling and tripling up" on the PCs.

These microforms will be moved to compact storage cabinets creating space to add twenty new workstations to the Interactive Media Center.
