Bibliographic Styles
After you have compiled a bibliography of citations, you may export those citations using one of many Output Styles. These are
essentially templates that take the information from the citations and present them using the formatting rules of bibliographic styles such
as MLA, APA, and Chicago and many journal styles. EndNote X comes with over 2800 predefined styles to choose from.

Using Output Styles
-
To use an output style, go to Edit --> Output Styles; the selected style has a check mark by it.
You can change the output style by clicking on a different one in the list.
- You can add styles to the available list by going to Edit --> Output Styles --> Open Style Manager...; a list will come up.
- Select the styles you want to display in the menu list by clicking the check boxes next to them. Close the list window using the X.
- If you don't like the default bibliography output style options or none of them work for what you need to do, you can make a new output format.
- Go to Edit --> Output Styles and choose New Style...
-
You can configure how the in-text references and footnotes appear, as well as how the bibliography will look, by inserting the fields
where it will need to be for the references. You need it to look like Author. Title. Date., not Author Title Date.
-
A preview of how your citation will look in print is shown on the bottom of your library. If it is not, click
Show Preview on the bottom-right hand corner of your library window.
