African American Historical Serials Collection

This digital primary source collection was developed in conjunction with the American Theological Library Association (ATLA) as part of an effort to preserve endangered serials related to African American religious life and culture utilizing over 170 unique titles. Collection coverage includes archival content from the African Methodist Episcopal Church, The African Methodist Zion Church, numerous Baptist churches and other materials published between 1829 and 1922. Description of this resource: Biography Bank contains biographical information on approximately half a million people, from antiquity to present, along with thousands of images. It contains the full text of the articles from more than 100 volumes of biographical reference books published by H. W. Wilson, including all the articles from all volumes of Current Biography, the World Author Series, Nobel Prize Winners, World Artists, World Film Directors, American Reformers, and numerous biographical books on musicians and composers throughout history. Also included are thousands of biographies from others publishers, including Macmillan UK, Greenwood, Houghton Mifflin, and Harvard University Press.
In addition to the full text biographies, Biography Reference Bank contains millions of magazine citations (many of which contain full-text) from all of the Wilson Indexing Databases, including all citations from Biography Index Database after 1984, as well as thousands of links to book review citations, including review excerpts and full text reviews from book Review Digest Plus.
The biographies are searchable by name, profession, title, place of origin, gender, race/ethnicity, titles of works, date of birth, date of death, keyword, and presence of images.

Catalog of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture includes the cumulative catalog of the New York Public Library's Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. The Catalog of U.S. Government Publications (CGP) is the finding tool for electronic and print publications from the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of the U.S. government. The CGP contains descriptive records for historical and current publications and provides direct links to those that are available online. More than 500,000 records generated since July 1976 are contained in the CGP and it is updated daily. The catalog will grow to include records for publications dating back to the late 1800s, making the CGP the central point for locating new and historical Government publications. The Lily

The Lily, the first newspaper for women in the U.S., was issued from 1849 until 1853 under the editorship of Amelia Bloomer (1818 – 1894) and sold to Mary Birdsall in 1854. The newspaper continued through December 15, 1856. Published in Seneca Falls, NY and priced at 50 cents a year, the newspaper began as a temperance journal for “home distribution’ among members of the Seneca Falls Ladies Temperance Society, which had formed in 1848. The newspaper went on to cover some of the early women’s rights movement with articles authored by Elizabeth Cady Stanton

A collection of digitized documentary sources on women and social movements in the United States. The database includes published histories and records of women's reform organizations throughout the United States across the 19th and 20th centuries. The database features scanned original selections of books, pamphlets, and related materials from "One Hundred Years of the Women's Suffrage Movement," The History of Woman Suffrage (6 volumnes, 1881-1922); proceedings of the national conventions of female Anti-Slavery societies in the 1830's; proceedings of the women's rights conventions in the 1850's and 1860's; annual reports of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union; and local and national histories of the General Federation of Women's Clubs. WRDS - Wharton Research Data Services

WRDS is a warehouse of financial, accounting, banking, economics, management, marketing, and public policy databases accessible through a single Web-based interface. This resource is only available to UAlbany faculty, staff and students. UAlbany graduate students and faculty can request a WRDS account for remote access, by going to http://wrds.wharton.upenn.edu/ and following the instructions. Undergraduates should ask their professor for a class password. WRDS is maintained by the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Its particular strengths include deep archives of historical data, a common web interface for access to all WRDS databases, and a variety of output file formats. WRDS provides access only to specific databases licensed by the University at Albany, in particular to COMPUSTAT North America, COMPUSTAT Global & EMDB and CRSP, as well as to some additional datasets. The UA subscription does not include all WRDS databases.
