Meet the Dewey Staff! Angela Hackstadt

Meet our newest staff member at Dewey, Angela Hackstadt! Angela is the Political Science, Law, Public Policy and Administration librarian here at the Dewey Library.

What are your responsibilities?

I work at the Dewey reference desk, I take PAWS appointments, and I’m available for research consultations for faculty and students. Email me!

What do you enjoy most about working here so far?

Everyone here is very kind and supportive. Dewey is a beautiful, inspiring place to spend the day.

Where did you work before coming to Dewey?

My last position was at the University of Arkansas School of Law. I worked in serials and acquisitions at the Young Law Library and I taught legal research.

How did you get into the library field?

I started as a student worker at the Young Law Library when I was an undergraduate at the University of Arkansas. After I graduated, I stayed on at the law library and worked for a while at the main campus library while I attended a distance education program at the University of Alabama for my MLIS.

Do you have any advice for library users?

“All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated and well supported in logic and argument than others.” Douglas Adams, The Salmon of Doubt

What would you like students to know about you?

I earned two college degrees as a single parent. It’s never too late to finish your education or take on a new challenge.
