General Access to Dewey Library

Wheelchair access to the Dewey Graduate Library is from the first floor of Draper Hall (on the west side of the library). The main floor is accessible. The classroom and group study areas on the mezzanine level are also accessible, but library staff must be alerted to unlock the entrance door. Library staff are available to assist users with retrieving books and periodicals.

Photocopying and campus book delivery service is provided though UA Delivery Service. See If further assistance is needed, please ask library staff or call (518) 442-3696.


Assistive Equipment and Software

The public access terminals at Dewey provide ZoomText software. This application consists of a screen magnifierand screen reader.

In addition, Dewey Library has a work station reserved for patrons with disabilities and scanning. It is available all hours the library is open. Patrons wishing to use this work station should ask at the Reference Desk for assistance. The workstation is set up with the following software and equipment:

  • Kurzweil 1000

  • Dragon Naturally Speaking 9.0



  • Scanner (Epson GT-2500)

  • microphone

  • headphones
