The Libraries welcomes you to join us in recognizing Fair Use Week from February 20-24, 2023! This international celebration provides the UAlbany community time to note the research, teaching, and everyday activities that are made possible by fair use. We will be sharing some of our favorite resources on our social channels so make sure you are following us!

We are pleased to also offer the following workshop:

Fair Use for Nonfiction Authors

Wednesday, February 22, 12:00 – 1:00

Are you a nonfiction author? Have you ever wanted to know whether you needed permission or a paid license to use copyrighted material in your work? Would you like to learn more about fair use? If so, Fair Use for Nonfiction Authors is for you!

This workshop is designed for all nonfiction authors who want to know more about using copyrighted materials.

Join us to review principles and limitations of fair use for common situations nonfiction authors face when incorporating copyrighted works into their writings.

As you think about the ways you can use fair use in your research, teaching, and learning, remember that the Libraries’ Scholarly Communication Team is always available to provide resources about copyright and fair use. And while we cannot provide legal advice, we can help explain these issues in greater detail and share tools that can help you navigate your decision making.

We hope you will consider following the conversation about #FairUse Week we’ll be hosting @UAlbanyLibs and join us for our event!
