Amanda Lowe receives President's Excellence in Librarianship Award
Amanda Lowe, Outreach and Marketing Librarian, received the 2024 President's Excellence in Librarianship Award. President Havidán RodrÃguez and Provost Carol Kim presented Amanda with the award during the University's Spring Address on Thursday, April 4 in the Performing Arts Center. Amanda earned specific commendations for her efforts in creating a student-centric marketing plan for the University Libraries, as well as for building partnerships across campus. Congratulations, Amanda!

The 2024 Unsung Hero Award
University Libraries receive Unsung Hero Award
On May 8, as part of the Lavender Graduation Celebration, the University Libraries received the Unsung Hero Award from the Office of Intercultural Student Engagement. In particular, the efforts of Deborah LaFond, Amanda Lowe, and Melody Palmer (Library Ambassador) were highlighted. The Lavender Graduation and Awards recognize Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Allied Faculty, Staff, and Students for their efforts in promoting LGBTQ+ Equity.
Jane Kessler to retire
Jane Kessler, Director of Academic Success, is set to retire this summer. Jane joined the University Libraries as a reference librarian for the Dewey Graduate Library in 2000. She would hold numerous roles over the course of 24 year with the University Libraries, including as Head of Reference and Research Services, Director of Collections, and now Director of Academic Success. Congratulations Jane!

Brian Keough
Brian Keough named State Archivist
On June 11, the New York State Board of Regents and Commissioner Betty A. Rosa named Brian Keough as State Archivist and Assistant Commissioner for the New York State Archives. Brian will begin his role in August. The University Libraries thank him for his 25 years of service, many of which at the helm of the M.E. Grenander Department of Special Collections and Archives.
