The University Libraries welcome you to celebrate Open Access Week, October 21-27, 2024, during which we will engage with this year’s theme, “Community over Commercialization.”
Over the course of the week, we will be exploring questions like: Is something lost when a shrinking number of corporations control knowledge production? What options are available for using community-controlled infrastructure? And how can we shift the default toward using these community-minded options?

UAlbany Open Access Week Activities
Open Ecosystem Fair
Wednesday, October 23, 1:00-3:00 pm
Join us on the first floor of the University Library for games, robots, and DIY activities and learn about the possibilities when research is free and accessible. You will meet enthusiastic faculty, explore cool tools, and get inspired by how open practices are changing the game in higher education and beyond. There will be plenty of snacks and prizes for all!
We also encourage the UAlbany community to attend the Division for Research and Economic Development’s Research and Entrepreneurship Week events. The Libraries will be at the Research Resources Fair on Monday, 10/21 from 4:15-5:00 pm. Attendees will learn more about resources available to support their work and explore ways to build future capabilities based on current needs.
UAlbany’s Open Access Week activities were funded in part through a generous grant from University Auxiliary Services at Albany (UAS).
