Trudi Jacobson, Distinguished Librarian, is the Head of the Information Literacy Department at the University at Albany Libraries. Her scholarly interests involve metaliteracy, including digital badging for metaliteracy abilities, active learning techniques, and blended learning.  She recently published Metaliteracy: Reinventing Information Literacies to Empower Learners, written with Dr. Thomas Mackey (ALA Editions, 2014). Their co-edited work, Metaliteracy in Practice, will be published by ALA Editions in early 2016. They have also co-edited four volumes on library/faculty information literacy collaborative endeavors, and written articles that have appeared in a number of scholarly journals. Trudi co-chaired the national ACRL Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education Task Force from 2013-2015.  In 2009, she received the Miriam Dudley Instruction Librarian of the Year award.

Greg Bobish is an Associate Librarian at the University at Albany, SUNY. He has taught credit-bearing information literacy courses since 2000 and enjoys experimenting with new educational technologies and new pedagogical approaches as he tries to convey the relevance of information literacy to his students’ lives. He has received the Chancellor’s and the President’s awards for Excellence in Librarianship.

Irina Holden teaches Information Literacy in Mathematics and Statistics, UNL 299, and works as an Information Literacy and Science Outreach Librarian in the Science Library at the University at Albany. Prior to teaching UNL 299 she taught UNL 206, Information Literacy in the Sciences. Her research interests include science literacy, reference and instruction in both traditional and virtual environments, sustainability and first year experience courses. Ms. Holden is a native of Ukraine.

Allison Hosier is a Senior Assistant Librarian with the Information Literacy department. Her work with the department includes providing instruction in both face-to-face and online environments as part of credit-bearing courses, one-shot sessions, and online tutorials. The Plagiarism 101 tutorial which Allison worked on was selected for inclusion in the ACRL Peer-Reviewed Instructional Materials Online database and MERLOT in 2015. Allison’s scholarly interests have recently turned toward exploring changes in how librarians think about and approach information literacy and instruction following the introduction of the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy.

Kelsey O’Brien is a Senior Assistant Librarian in the department. She has previously worked as a high school library media specialist and a youth services librarian, and she enjoys helping first-year students become comfortable with academic research. She has been very active in the development of the Metaliteracy Digital Badging System. Her interests include alternative credentialing technologies, digital storytelling and creative publication tools.
