I hope you enjoy the latest issue of the Library Update. I’m happy to bring you a profile of former Dean and Director of Libraries, Meredith Butler, which shows how she has stayed involved with the University Libraries’ Preservation Department since her retirement. You will also read about the Libraries’ new popular reading collection, funded by the generosity of our donors. I share my experiences traveling to the United Arab Emirates to give a presentation at the Sharjah International Library Conference, my first trip since the pandemic began. The University’s new Open Access Policy is explained by Emily Kilcer, Scholarly Communication Librarian. This new policy protects faculty author rights to their published scholarship, and makes their research accessible worldwide.
With every newsletter, I’m amazed at the breadth of activities that our librarians undertake in support of our students, and this is no exception. You will read about welcome events, resource fairs, literary contests, Open Access Week, Stress Less Month, and much more!
