The University Libraries were up to big things this spring, including:

The University Libraries are pleased to announce a new endowed fund to support the Dewey Graduate Library. The Henry T. Hettger Library Endowment consists of $1.5 million set aside for overall support of the Dewey Library. 

On March 9, the University Libraries launched a program where members of the University at Albany community could receive complimentary digital subscriptions to the New York Times. Access to these subscriptions was made possible thanks to the Library Development Fund, composed of gifts from alumni and supporters of the University Libraries. 

This spring, two librarians took on new leadership roles as department heads. Allison Hosier was promoted to Head of Information Literacy, while Camille Chesley accepted the position of Head of Reference and Research Services. Both started their roles on March 17. 

Professor Kizenko delivered a presentation titled Ukraine and Russia: Key Moments in a Long Relationship on February 23.

In April, Peter Recore-Migirditch, the Libraries’ Director of Finance and Administration, retired after 41 years of service to the University. The institutional memory of the Libraries, as well as a chief adviser to the Dean, Peter has seen it all. Before he took off, we caught up with him to share some stories, insights, and a few laughs. 

On March 16, Lauren Puzier, User Experience Librarian, took home the top prize in Technology from SAGE Innovators Awards.

The Libraries are committed to building a diverse collection, and recently updated the collection development policy to include an explicit statement on diversity, equity and inclusion.

My experience as the Anna Radkowski-Lee graduate assistantship has been an unequivocally rewarding experience that I look forward to applying in my career. 
 

I decided to apply to be a Library Ambassador for the fall semester. I knew from the start that this was the perfect outlet for my love of libraries!   

Here in the M.E. Grenander Department of Special Collections & Archives, we have had a non-stop busy semester. Amongst our day-to-day archival work, we hosted numerous visits by an undergraduate course in the School of Criminal Justice, Dr. Debernee Privott’s Introduction to the Criminal Justice Process.
