Fuego Intenso is a dance troupe at UAlbany who exemplify cultural diversity through performance. They also love the libraries. 

"My experience with the M.E. Grenander Department of Special Collections and Archives has been unparalleled. I have learned so much while also receiving amazing advice and consideration from my mentors," says graduate student Meghan Slaff, reflecting on her time working on a prestigious national IMLS grant.

Welcome to a special President's Reading Room edition of the Library Update newsletter! 

President Havidán Rodríguez will officially re-open the space during a special ceremony at 11:15 A.M. on Thursday, September 12. All members of the campus community are invited to attend.  

"For me, the University Library is a space for innovation. It's a space for teaching. It's a space for learning. It's a space for engagement in which our students engage with their fellow students, engage with faculty, engage with staff, with the librarians. This is the place where we come to learn and to interact and to interface with others."

The University Libraries hosted a "Framing the Future" event on March 27 to gather valuable feedback from students on the future of the libraries. The event aimed to explore how the Libraries can help students achieve academic success at UAlbany.

The University Libraries are proud to introduce our inaugural Internship Cohort. This spring we welcomed three students from the Information Science master's program. While they worked on specific projects in their homebase units, they also embarked on a series of visits with various departments across the University Libraries, giving them a broad view of the many different aspects of academic libraries. 

The University Libraries announced in May that graduate student Nodiaus DiTonno and undergraduate student Alice Russo are the 2024 Patricia Stocking Brown Research Award recipients.
