Current UAlbany students, faculty, and staff can activate your complimentary NYTimes.com access.

  1. Where it says "Find Your School," enter SUNY Albany. Follow the instructions for your location - On Campus (connected to UAlbany WiFi) or Off Campus.
  2. Enter your UAlbany email address and click Continue. Do not click the "Sign in with SSO" link. Even though it may appear on the same page, it will not correctly link your account to UAlbany's Group Pass.
  3. On the next screen, either click Create Account to set up a new NYTimes.com login (using your UAlbany email), or click "Already have an account? Log in here" if you've registered with NYTimes.com using your UAlbany email before

Troubleshooting

  • If you have an existing paid NYT subscription, you must cancel it before it may be linked to the university's subscription; you may cancel through Customer Care: customercare@nytimes.com / 800-591-9233 / chat support
  • The NYT pass page is needed ONLY to sign up for or renew access; all content is at nytimes.com (or download the mobile app from the App Store or on Google Play).
  • Students will have access until they graduate.
  • Faculty and staff must renew once every four years; add your pass expiration date to your calendar; there will be no subsequent reminder.
  • You may reset your NYT password any time here: nytimes.com/forgot

What's included? 

Your pass includes unlimited online access to The New York Times and mobile applications, including international, Chinese, and Spanish editions, plus archives from 1851 and the NYTimes in Education site. Times Premier content or New York Times Games, New York Times Cooking or The Athletic, and e-reader editions (e.g., Kindle Fire, Nook, etc.) are not included. However, you can add a subscription to Cooking or Games to your free institutional account.

Subscription access to the NYT Group Pass is exclusively available to current faculty, staff, and students. At this time, access is not available to our alumni and emeriti.
