Office of the Dean of Libraries | 20 hours/week 

Position Summary

The University Libraries seek a graduate student to support the development and deployment of a Library Service Catalog/Knowledge Base in SharePoint and the automation of assessment data collection using Power Automate. The position works closely with the Coordinator of Strategic Initiatives on this service discovery tool. A secondary project will be to automate data collection for a  Library Assessment Dashboard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and configure a SharePoint-based Library Service Catalog/Knowledge Base.
  • Organize and structure content and metadata in collaboration with library staff.
  • Develop both traditional keyword searching and a chatbot interface for service discovery.
  • Create Power Automate workflows to streamline assessment data collection for our Library Assessment Dashboard.
  • Document workflows and test deliverables for usability and effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a UAlbany graduate program (must be carrying 6+ credits during summer session).
  • Experience with SharePoint site design/customization.
  • Experience designing and deploying Power Automate workflows.
  • Interest in chatbot tools (e.g., Microsoft Power Virtual Agents or similar).
  • Strong communication, organization, and independent work skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Interest in academic library services and operations.
  • Familiarity with APIs, search optimization, or UI/UX principles.
