Welcome to a special President's Reading Room edition of the Library Update newsletter!
Later this week, the campus community will come together to celebrate the re-opening of one of the most popular spaces in the University Libraries. We've been hard at work since commencement last May to prepare a remodeled President's Reading Room for our students, faculty, and staff.
Winston Churchill once said, "To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often." Libraries, as you know, are constantly evolving. We are always striving to improve, to meet the moment, and to best serve our community. Sometimes the changes occur behind the scenes, and other times they take the form of magnificent space upgrades!
In this installment, you will read about the remodeling project - complete with brand new portraits, furniture, and greenery for students to enjoy. We also had the privilege of sitting down with President Havidán RodrÃguez for a special installment of My Library Story. Special Collections and Archives rounds out the newsletter with a timeline of University Presidents and their connection to the Libraries.
Thank you for your continued support of the University Libraries. If you are in the Capital Region, please consider joining us Thursday, September 12, at 11:15 A.M. for the re-opening of the President's Reading Room. Light refreshments will be served, and we would be happy to see you!
Editor's note: An earlier version of this story indicated the re-opening would take place at 4:00 P.M. - the event has been rescheduled for 11:15 A.M.
