From organizing the International Students Reception to her research and service efforts, Dr. Yu-Hui Chen embodies the University's commitment to internationalization.

The University Libraries announced in May that graduate student Andelina Dreshaj was the 2022 Patricia Stocking Brown Research Award recipient.

The University Libraries hosted the annual Employee Recognition Event on May 4, 2022. This year’s celebration featured a virtual ceremony, filled with awards and surprises, followed by an in-person lunch.

For 21 years, Karen Kiorpes has served as head of the Alice Hastings Murphy Preservation Department for the University Libraries. While most preservation librarians work behind the scenes, performing essential tasks to keep the collections usable, Karen places a premium on engaging with the community. Before she rode off into retirement on June 30, we caught up with her for a few questions. 
 

The University Libraries held our annual Cleanup Event from August 9-10, 2022. The most ambitious task? A simultaneous shift moving over 12,000 reference books and another 12,000 volumes from the Children and Young Adult Collection.

The University Libraries are pleased to announce a new endowed fund to support the Dewey Graduate Library. The Henry T. Hettger Library Endowment consists of $1.5 million set aside for overall support of the Dewey Library. 

On March 9, the University Libraries launched a program where members of the University at Albany community could receive complimentary digital subscriptions to the New York Times. Access to these subscriptions was made possible thanks to the Library Development Fund, composed of gifts from alumni and supporters of the University Libraries. 

This spring, two librarians took on new leadership roles as department heads. Allison Hosier was promoted to Head of Information Literacy, while Camille Chesley accepted the position of Head of Reference and Research Services. Both started their roles on March 17. 

Professor Kizenko delivered a presentation titled Ukraine and Russia: Key Moments in a Long Relationship on February 23.
